About Freelance Numbers

Freelance Numbers publishes free calculators and practical guides for freelancers and job seekers. It started from a simple observation: many rate calculators divide a salary by 2,080 hours and leave out the time off, non-billable work, tax and payment fees that freelancers have to cover.

Who runs this site

This is a small independent project. It is not run by an accountant, lawyer, financial adviser or recruiter, and we don't present any author as one. There are no named "experts" or testimonials here, because we don't have any to show you.

How the content is made

  • Factual statements about rules, thresholds and dates are checked against official primary sources (for example GOV.UK and IRS.gov), which are linked inline with the date we accessed them.
  • Worked examples use invented, labelled numbers. They show how a method works and aren't typical or recommended values. We don't publish income claims or made-up statistics.
  • Calculator formulas are explained on each tool page so you can check the maths yourself.

How the site makes money

The site is free to use. We sell a few downloadable templates (see Templates), which are labelled "Our product" wherever they appear. There are currently no ads and no affiliate links. If that changes, we'll label them clearly next to each link and update the disclosure page.

Corrections

If you spot an error, an outdated rule or a broken source link, contact us via the Gumroad store page. We'll fix it and update the page date.

Everything here is general information, not tax, legal or financial advice. Rules differ by country and change over time. For decisions that matter, ask a qualified professional where you live.
